RATIFICATION OF REASSIGNMENT OF STUDENTS TO SCHOOLS

8. RATIFICATION OF REASSIGNMENT OF STUDENTS TO SCHOOLS
Description

Reassignment of students to schools within the county have been approved by the administration or recommended by the Student Assignment Appeal Board in accordance with policies with the School Board.  They are presented for formal ratification.



Recommendation
That the reassignment of students to schools be ratified as presented.

GENERAL ITEMS

9. APPROVAL OF MASTER IN-SERVICE PLAN
Description
The Master In-Service Plan (MIP) is the list and description of all staff development training approved by the district.  The only change in the MIP for 2015-2016 is the addition of one (1) component as required by the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE), titled Florida Small Group Planning and Problem-Solving Process.

Recommendation
That the district Master In-Service Plan be approved as presented.

10. APPROVAL OF BOARD PROCLAMATION OF ATTENDANCE AWARENESS MONTH
Description
The Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading recognizes that chronic absence is a major contributing factor in students' not reading at grade level or otherwise succeeding in school.   They have asked School Boards across the United States to proclaim September as Attendance Awareness Month to bring attention to the need for students to attend school regularly in order to achieve academic success.

Recommendation
That the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida approve the proclamation of September as Attendance Awareness Month in Sarasota County.

AGREEMENTS/CONTRACTS

11. THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA/GIRLS ON THE RUN
Description

Girls On The Run is a transformational physical-activity-based positive youth development program for girls 3rd - 8th grade. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.

 



Recommendation
That the agreement between The University of South Florida/Girls On The Run and The School Board of Sarasota County, Florida, be approved as presented.

12. APPROVAL OF INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE SCHOOL BOARD AND SARASOTA COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS FOR USE OF THE HERON CREEK MIDDLE SCHOOL FIELD
Description
Sarasota County Parks Department approached the School District about the possibility of allowing the field at Heron Creek Middle School to be used as a field site for youth football in North Port. The site is large enough to accommodate this use. The School Board and County staff find that collaborative opportunities such as this benefit both the school district and the community. The attached Interlocal Agreement establishes conditions by which Sarasota County commits to the management, operation, and maintenance of the filed while in use by community organizations. The agreement also ensures that the community use will not impact the instructional program nor the field conditions at Heron Creek Middle School.

Recommendation

That the School Board approve the Interlocal Agreement between the School Board of Sarasota County and the Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners to manage and operate a sports field at Heron Creek Middle School.

13. APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN SARASOTA DOCTORS HOSPITAL, INC. D/B/A DOCTORS HOSPITAL OF SARASOTA AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA
Description
The School Board offers to enrolled students a Health Professions Program and Sarasota Doctors Hospital, Inc. d/b/a Doctors Hospital of Sarasota manages a comprehensive acute-care medical-surgical facility.  The School Board desires to provide to its students a clinical learning experience through the application of knowledge and clinical skills in actual patient-centered situations in a health care facility and Sarasota Doctors Hospital, Inc. d/b/a Doctors Hospital of Sarasota has agreed to make its facilities available to School Board for such purposes.


Recommendation
That the Affiliation Agreement between Sarasota Doctors Hospital, Inc. d/b/a Doctors Hospital of Sarasota and The School Board of Sarasota County, Florida be approved as presented.

14. APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT FOR SCHOOL RESOURCE DEPUTY PROGRAM BETWEEN THE SARASOTA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA
Description

This is an agreement between the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida, and the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office for the School Resource Deputy Program in Sarasota County.



Recommendation
That the agreement for the School Resource Deputy Program between the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida and the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office for $607,209.00, be approved as presented.

15. APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT FOR SCHOOL RESOURCE DEPUTY PROGRAM BETWEEN THE CITY OF NORTH PORT AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA
Description
This is an agreement between the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida, and the City of North Port for the School Resource Deputy Program in Sarasota County.

Recommendation
That the agreement for the School Resource Deputy Program between the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida, and the City of North Port for $273,326.72, be approved as presented.

17. APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT FOR SCHOOL RESOUCE DEPUTY PROGRAM BETWEEN THE CITY OF VENICE AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA
Description

This is an agreement between the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida, and the City of Venice for the School Resource Deputy Program in Sarasota County.



Recommendation
That the agreement for the School Resource Deputy Program between the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida, and the City of Venice for $103,113.00 be approved as presented.

MATERIALS MANAGEMENT

18. APPROVAL OF CLASSIFICATION OF INOPERATIVE EQUIPMENT AND FURNITURE AS PROPERTY TO BE DELETED
Description
The custodian of the property (cost center heads) have certified it to be traded in on new equipment, unaccounted for, not repairable or otherwise inoperable.  Property still on hand after reallocation will be salvaged for any useful parts and then sold at auction.

Recommendation
That the classification of equipment and furniture, as property to be deleted, be approved.

CONSTRUCTION

19. APPROVAL AND/OR RATIFICATION OF CONSTRUCTION SERVICES' CHANGE ORDER(S)
Description
The Construction Services' Change Orders are summarized on the enclosure for ease of review.  These change orders total an increase of $327,686.68 in gross contract dollars.

Recommendation
That the Construction Services' Change Order(s) be approved and/or ratified as presented.

FINANCE

20. APPROVAL OF THE FINAL BUDGET AMENDMENT FOR FISCAL YEAR 2014-2015
Description
The General Fund; Special Revenue Fund - Food and Nutrition Services; Special Revenue - Federal and State Grants; Self Insurance Fund; Capital Outlay Funds; and Debt Service Funds are being amended to reflect the final results of operations for the 2014-2015 fiscal year.   

Recommendation
That the Final Budget Amendments for the 2014-2015 fiscal year be approved as presented.

21. APPROVAL OF THE ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2015
Description
Chapter 6A-q0071 (2) of the State Board of Education Administration Rules requires that the Annual Financial Report be submitted to the Florida Commissioner of Education no later than the 11th of September each year.
